Eric Abele is an artist and designer living and working in Baltimore, Maryland. Currently he is a Teaching Professor at the University of Maryland Baltimore County Department of Theatre, and Affiliate Faculty for the Department of Visual Arts.  His research, with his colleague Lauren Roark, is developing digital rendering pedagogy for costume designers.  Together, they own Digital Theatre Design LLC and host courses to teach digital design using Procreate.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts and German at Centre College (cum laude) and completed a Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design at the University of Tennessee.   In fall 2025, he graduated with an additional Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, Drawing, and Printmaking and a Bachelor of Science in Art History (summa cum laude) at Towson University.  And because five academic degrees sound sexier than four, he is earning a second Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art at Towson, focusing on painting and drawing, finishing sometime this decade.

Eric lives with his husband, Andrew, and adorable cat children.
